Cirencester Town Council and the Advent Festival Committee are delighted to announce that Lance Corporal James Tsolakis from C (Royal Gloucestershire Hussars) Squadron, the Royal Wessex Yeomanry, Cirencester's Territorial Army unit, will switch on the Town's Christmas lights in the Market Place.

Lance Corporal Tsolakis, will join the Mayor of Cirencester, Councillor Geoffrey Adams and the Vicar of Cirencester, The Reverend Leonard Doolan, to offer seasonal greetings and to carry out the switching on Ceremony.

Lance Corporal Tsolakis, born in Cirencester and educated at Deer Park School, returned from active service in Afghanistan earlier this year, where he served for 6 months in Helmand province, Afghanistan, with the Queen's Dragoon Guards.

The Mayor is delighted with the choice and said "that it was a splendid way to focus the minds of everyone on how much we all owe the young men and woman, who are so readily prepared to volunteer for service in the front line of the battle against terrorism in Afghanistan"
